How to Take Back Your Time and Prioritize Your Health

Adulting. It's hard.

And I don't think we got enough preparation to truly manage the stress. Lots has changed since we left high school and with this faced paced and ever changing technological world, we tap into our late 90's skill set and it's no wonder we come up short, stressed and overwhelmed each and every time. We just add so many more things to our juggling act that eventually it all comes crashing down.

According to the American Institute of Stress Statistics, about 33 percent of people report feeling extreme stress. 77 percent of people experience stress that affects their physical health. 73 percent of people have stress that impacts their mental health.

Those are pretty high stats my friend.

And while I know that throwing yet another overwhelming stat at cha just makes the crap habits show up: checking out, over eating, shutting down, getting angry, drinking, distracting, etc all rear their heads because we just don't even have the damn space to process how freakin stressed we are in the first place.

So, here's how I can help.

As an 80's baby, with 90's skill sets too, I have hunkered down to create a special process that fills in those gaps we didn't get on how to manage ourselves in this modern TikTok world while still kicking it old school with a cup of coffee and a...newspaper!

This is just a lil behind the scenes on what is on deck for January to help you manage all this, take back your time, be more energized and prioritize your own self.

Understanding How Stress Works:

Learning the science behind your stress levels actually becomes the tool needed to manage it. It's like once you know it, you can't unknow it. And it also means that you are able to control it, rather than the stress control you.

When you are stressed, your brain signals your fight or flight response to either fight the predator or flee from the predator. We are biologically designed to run from lions, ya know?

So when you are here, your body is pumping adrenaline and cortisol to help you spring into action, run away or stay and fight that lion! Knowing what this does in the long term, when the stress becomes chronic, is the pathway to understanding and managing it.

Introducing Mindfulness and Movement

When you're hella stressed, your body needs to move, which is why you may do things like pace around the kitchen, feel antsy or pop off at someone with your words. That hormonal energy needs to go SOMEWHERE.

By managing your breath and slowing down using mindfulness practices of intention setting and mantra work, you can start to control the energy so that it doesn't control you. And then, you get to decide how you want to use that rage filled energy:

Putting that energy into a workout has so many benefits that will not just get you physically strong, but it also helps you produce hormones like serotonin, dopamine, epinephrine that all aide in your good moods and focus.

So when this is done intentionally, you a building back up that toolbox to be in control of your life.
